Volunteers

Only volunteers make sure that the museum is open all season. They are all sorts of people, who on average are available for the museum half a day per week. The museum has no paid employees.

Tour guides

The tour guides are experts with often agricultural backgrounds, who can inform  visitors on the museum’s collection and how machines were applied in the early days. If desired, they accompany individuals or groups and might act as a source of information for all visitors. The tour guide and the front desk attendant often work together.

Front desk attendants

Receiving our visitors happens in a well-considered and careful manner. Besides selling a ticket the attendant also explains what can be found in the museum and provides information on the course of events during the visit.
Selling products from our museum shop and settling refreshments are some of the tasks of the front desk attendant. Together with the tour guide the attendant sees to the museum’s opening, closing and order keeping.

Technical staff

This is the group of employees making sure the exhibitions and buildings are well maintained. They come together one afternoon every week. The group contains people with skills in various fields, but also all kinds of volunteers lending a helping hand.

Forge

In the forge, blacksmith work is demonstrated during two afternoons per week. The volunteers who give the demonstrations have learned the trade during their professional lives or have been trained in our own forge. They are therefore well able to inform visitors about forging and the instruments present.

Interested ?

People from on and outside Texel (also with qualities that have not been mentioned above) who would like to know more about the possibilities to volunteer are kindly requested to contact the secretariat.
